The Laymen Brotherhood Second Chance Outreach Center, Inc had a very successful 14th annual Christmas dinner and toy give-away celebration on Saturday December 18, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Adolph Noble Multi-Purpose Building located at 849 M L King, Jr. Drive in Bainbridge, Georgia. Many people donated to this great cause to make this annual event a great success. Rev. Adren Bivins, the founder of the organization, gave greetings and thanked everyone for coming. Sylvia Bivins welcomed everyone and gave the history and read a Proclamation from Mayor Edward Reynolds of the City of Bainbridge, recognizing the work done by the Laymen outreach in the community. Deacon Emory Brown, Jr., an advisor with the outreach, shared with the youth by telling them to make wise choices and to find a hobby to keep them busy. Mrs. Nora Wilkins recited a beautiful poem entitled The Compassion of Christ, concerning feeding the poor. The Shepard family, who are Faith Radio listeners, drove all the way from Lake City, Florida to help with the celebration. Mrs. Gwendolyn Cooper of Helping Hands Ministry in Miami, Florida was also present. Toys, belts and Bibles were purchased for at least 100 youth and every child were able to go for seconds. A Bible trivia was done to give away two bicycles, for a girl and a boy. The questions asked were, what was Jesus’ mother’s name and what was Jesus’ father’s name. Both questions were answered correctly and a bicycle was given away to a little girl and a boy. A scrumptious dinner was served, turkey & dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, pound cake, and a roll with a soft drink and water. The food was catered by Mrs. Beulah Handsford. There was a sheet cake to feed everyone that said “Happy Birthday Jesus” because Jesus is the reason for the season. We would like to thank God and everyone for their prayers, donated items, financial contributions and continued support to help with this annual event. A special thank you to Faith Radio of Tallahassee, Florida and the listeners, Kenneth Rosenberg, Ladarius Yates and Wal-Mart. To God Be the Glory!
