Shirley Massey Gandy, age 85, of Thomasville passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. Shirley is survived by her four children, daughters, Terry Gandy Dukes (Randy) and Cindy Gandy Walden (Jerry), sons William Lane Gandy (Tammy) and Darren Paul Gandy (Carolyn); eight grandchildren, Jeremy Dukes, Allison Dukes Stone (Steven), Cody Walden (Audrey), Shannon Walden Rowland (Garrett), Brandon Gandy (Ashley), Skylar Gandy, Claire Gandy, and Clark Gandy; four great grandchildren, Ellasyn Gandy, Emma Stone, Josie Walden, and Wesley Walden; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Shirley was born on October 23, 1936, in Thomasville, Georgia, and was a lifelong resident of the Thomasville and Bainbridge areas. She worked for many years at the South Georgia Neurological Institute before retiring. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Lester Massey and Ruby Dell Hudson Massey, her husband, Jack Gandy, her brothers Cecil Massey and Howard Massey, and her sisters Opal Williams, Pauline Hayes, and Clarice Wade.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home, 110 West Hansell Street, Thomasville, Georgia, with a celebration of life immediately following at 2:00pm. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Halcyon Home in Thomasville, Georgia.
