Dorothy Thompson was born October 10, 1931, in Wilkinson County, Ga., the daughter of Earnest & Alice Thigpen Thompson. She was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School. She married Rudolph “Buddy” Harvell in 1976. Dorothy retired from City of Bainbridge as a payroll clerk. She was a member of Attapulgus United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was considered “socially well informed” which translates she knew everyone’s business. She was passionate about life in general but especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and watching hummingbirds flit from flower to flower. Described as frugal, the truth is Dorothy was “tight”. Those who knew her well knew not to fool with her money or her children, particularly her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Rudolph “Buddy” Harvell; her children, Walter Hugh White (Debbie) of Ball Ground, Ga., Earnest Bryant White, and Charlotte Anita White, both of Bainbridge; her siblings, Francis Lipscomb of Youngstown, Fla., and Earnestine Hazelton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her grandchildren, Roger, Kyle & Anna, Hollie, Ali, and Blaine; and her 5 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
