Carol Jean Hight, 76, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away August 14, 2022.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 16, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Melissa Traver officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private interment will be held at Oak City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, At Ivey Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Carol Jean was born December 14, 1945, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Carroll Caldwell and Mildred Barrett Caldwell. She was a Bainbridge native and very active member of First United Methodist Church. Carol Jean was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1963 where she was a proud head majorette for the Bearcats. She earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education at Georgia Southern College. In 1967, Carol Jean married her college sweetheart, Dr Edgar Dennis Hight.

Carol Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit, and contagious laugh. She loved painting, traveling, antiquing, playing bridge with friends, bragging on her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Eddie Hight, her sons, Dr. Perry Dennis Hight (Jenifer) of Santa Rosa, Fla., and Phillip Barrett Hight (Jane) of Atlanta, Ga.; her daughter, Carlie Caitlyn Hight of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her 7 grandchildren, Juliet, Perry, Barrett, Athina, Sophia, Watson and Lawson; and her sister, Mary “Shangie” Caldwell Holt (Dorsey) of Adel, Ga.
