Bainbridge Lions Club has elected and installed officers and leaders for the coming year as the Club continues with service and fellowship. Bainbridge Lions were honored to have Lion Christy Wray from Camilla conduct the installation ceremony, calling up the responsibilities for each position in turn. Lion Christy actively serves area Lions as a zone chair and vice-district governor; she is also Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Mitchell County.
While the regular meetings of the Bainbridge Club offer an opportunity for friendship, members also enjoy the satisfaction of contributing benefits to our community. Recently, the Club provided funds for purchase of an additional protective vest for the Decatur County Rescue Squad. Beyond the support of schools and local community service agencies, the Bainbridge Club is part of a network of vision care that extends statewide and even globally. The Lions Lighthouse in Macon provides intervention to prevent loss of vision, available for any Georgia resident who needs additional resources. In the year ending last June 30th, the Light House vision clinics served 5,402 patients; 382 eye surgeries were provided, as well as 933 eye exams. Also in Georgia, the Lions Camp in Waycross offers recreation activities for persons who are sight impaired. In the Bainbridge Public Library, you may have noticed a box for collecting eyeglasses that are no longer used. The glasses collected are cleaned and sorted by prescription to be recycled and given to people who come to the free vision clinics provided by Lions International in remote parts of the world.
Pictured are officers elected to serve the Bainbridge Lions Club for the current fiscal year: President, Edward Seabrooks; First Vice-President, Wanda Thomas; Second Vice-President, Fields Varner; Third Vice-President, Woody Woodward; Secretary and Treasurer, Mike Miller. Additionally, Tuffy Nussbaum will serve as Tail-Twister and Bruce Mann will serve as Chaplain. Directors include Walter Goodman, Jim Beck, Bruce Mann and Jeanette Sickel. Bainbridge Lions appreciate the service and leadership provided by Immediate Past President Jason Williams.
