Robert Jackson “Cab” Hargrave, 71, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Cab was born on June 13, 1951. He was originally from Bainbridge, Georgia, and was a Florida resident for many years before moving to Haywood County in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burch and Jane Hargrave, as well as his brothers, Burch Hargrave, Jr. and Andrew R. Hargrave, and sister, Sally Hargrave Berry. He had a Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University and worked at AT&T for many years before retiring. He was a beloved member of the Hargrave family and was also a treasured fixture of the Burt family, the Sutton family, and the Lalor-Aassar family.
There’s a rumor going around that he liked golf (ha ha!). The rumor is true as his passion for the game was apparent to anyone he met. Cab lived his life with similar passion; always greeting others with a friendly smile and a helping hand. He had a goofy sense of humor, a hearty laugh, and an obvious love for his family. He was a man with many aliases; growing up, his family called him “Bob”; he earned the nickname “Cab” in college, and then when grandkids came along, he became a wonderful and devoted “Buga” to them. Among his giant family and circle of friends, he was adored and loved by so many people. Cab was a genuinely kind, honest, and all-around-great guy!
He is survived by his wife, Martha F. Hargrave; his dear brother, Wesley C. Hargrave and sister-in-law, Patsy Hargrave; his son, Colby Skinner; his stepchildren, April Burt and Mark Burt; his four (4) grandchildren, Lily Sutton, Abi Sutton, Georgia Burt, and Ricky Burt; his brother-in-law, Carlton Berry; his nephew, Wesley C. Hargrave, Jr.; his nieces, Charlotte Hargrave MacMahon and Allison Jane Berry; his great-nieces, Lauren I. MacMahon and Vivienne C. Hargrave; and his great-nephew, Liam C. MacMahon.
To all of his loyal golf buddies – you know who you are – Cab will be on the green with you forever.
A memorial gathering in Cab’s honor was held at Springdale Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 3 pm – 5 pm. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the chapel of Ivey Funeral Home in Bainbridge.
The care of Mr. Hargrave has been entrusted to Ivey Funeral Home and condolences can be made at www.iveyfuneral.com
