Albert Wimberly was born October 8, 1935, in Mitchell County, Ga., the son of Robert and Frances Sawyer Wimberly. He attended Mt. Pleasant High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Albert married Sara Darley in 1958, and they made their home in Southwest Georgia until their move to Atlanta seven years ago. He retired from BASF and devoted his time to his hobbies. Albert was a member of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church.
Albert was always on the move and could make something from nothing. His fascination for airplanes and motorcycles resulted in many hours in the shop tinkering. (He actually built three airplanes!) Indoors cramped his “on-the-move” style, whereas the outdoors gave him wide open spaces to explore.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sara Darley Wimberly of Johns Creek, Ga.; his only child, Tammy and her husband, Tom Wagner, of Peachtree Corners, Ga.; his grandchild, Tommy; and his sister, Joann Yawn of Lake Seminole. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Wimberly.
