The Bainbridge-Decatur County Recreation Authority is putting on a sports camp this week.
Each day of camp is dedicated to a specific sport. Monday was soccer, Tuesday was basketball, Wednesday was Baseball, Thursday’s plan is football and Friday will be a field day for the campers.
“A lot of them haven’t tried these different sports before, and it just kind of gives them a taste of everything,” said Recreation Authority Community Development Manager Ana Baty.
Counselors at the camp run a “practice” for the sport of the day in the morning, and the kids get to play games in that sport after.
Wednesday started with conditioning drills and baseball practice. Afterward, campers were split into groups by age and played kickball games.
Current and past Bainbridge High School athletes served as camp leaders. They are senior soccer player Brock Williams, junior soccer player Addison Hill, soccer alumnus Javier Salgado, and basketball alumna D’Naya Campbell.
