Members of the Chamber of Commerce came downtown Wednesday afternoon to hold a ribbon cutting for the newest business, 6J Scrubbs & More. Located at 219 East Water Street, the shop specializes in, as the name says, nurses’ scrubs.

Owner Deidra Williams spoke with the Post-Searchlight about how the store came to be. “I’m a nurse, I’ve been a nurse for 18 years,” she said. “I know there was a need for affordable scrubs, especially fashionable scrubs, because if you look good and feel good, then you’ll have that reflection off of your patients. Patients love to see whoever their caregiver is looking nice and presentable to them at all times, so that’s what the idea was.”

In addition to their products, 6J will also offer a scholarship in honor of William’s deceased nephews, Brian “Six” Sanders, Sr., and SPC Justin Harris, Sr.

Williams looks to benefit the town with her new business. “We’re here to provide a service to the community,” she said in conclusion.
