Mrs. Maddox was born on May 5, 1936, in Tifton, Ga., to the late Carl Osborne Copeland and Pearl Simmons Copeland. On June 6, 1954, she married Dr. Eugene Talmadge Maddox, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2022. She became a born-again Christian in 1972 and served the remainder of her life as a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. Patsy was an accomplished portrait artist who owned her own art studio, Studio In The Pines, from 2005 to 2012. She stopped selling commissioned art when her husband was elected State Representative, and she traveled to Atlanta to assist her husband in supporting the needs of his constituents in Grady and Decatur Counties. She was a devoted member of the Cairo Methodist Church.
Though she has left this earthly realm, her legacy will forever blossom through her art, her children, and the countless lives she touched. She leaves behind a bittersweet ache in our hearts, but we take solace in the knowledge that her vibrant spirit will forever dance across the canvas of our collective memories.
