The Bearcats hope to carry the success from their win over Ware County into their matchup with Brooks County.
The Class A 2021 state champions are in a rebuilding period after losing 12 starters from last season. Bearcats head coach Jeff Littleton said the players may be inexperienced, but the program is not.
“They’ve got the same great coaching staff and great tradition,” Littleton said. “They’ve just gotten better and better… you can’t take them lightly.”
Littleton has faced the Trojans three times in his tenure with the Bearcats, most recently last season when his team fell 18-26.
“Every time we play Brooks, we’re going to see something new,” Littleton said. “They’re going to throw some wrinkle in there either on offense or defense to try and gain an advantage.”
The Bearcats come into the matchup off a 35-21 victory over the No. 1 Class AAAAA team in the state, Ware County. Littleton said he’s trying to stay “in a rhythm” during practice this week to carry the momentum from the big win with them into the rest of the season.
The game is at Centennial Field, kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
