A staple of downtown Bainbridge celebrated a milestone anniversary on Thursday night. Reeves Gifts, Jewelry & More celebrated 50 years last night, with drinks, hors d’oeuvres and door prizes for those that stopped by.
Originally started by Tom and Gloria Reeves in 1973, the store has been located at several locations around downtown over the years, with the couple selling the store to it’s current owners, Shae Brouillet and Amanda Rentz, in 2017. Brouillet and Rentz had previously been employed at Godwin Jewelers, before deciding to move up to owning their own business. While the duo have kept the old traditions the Reeves started, such as free gift wrapping, they have added new things as well, including new brands to the store inventory.
“We couldn’t do it without our customers and friends from all around, local and out of town,” Brouillet said. “If we didn’t have them to support us, we wouldn’t be here. Small-town business can get tough. It’s a little different, it’s not a box store.”
“We just try to please everybody, make everybody happy,” she concluded. “We want everyone to feel welcome when they come into our store.”
