Jonathan Darryl Heard was born October 4, 1962, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Jack, Sr. and Rose Mary Jones Heard. He was a graduate of Whigham High School. He worked at Amoco Fabrics, Shaw Industries, Bennett Seafood, Roadrunner Seafood, and later as a semi-truck driver. He attended County Line Baptist Church.
“John Boy” was known for being hard-headed and arguing with anyone who would argue back. He was impatient with things like waiting at the doctor’s office but never thought twice about helping others to the point of giving you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed working in his yard and considered himself a “professional” landscaper. “John Boy” loved the outdoors and spent many hours grilling and fishing. He got a kick out of sharing his culinary delights with both friends and family. He would fish anywhere with anyone, but his favorite expeditions were on Spring Creek with Terry Lambert.
Survivors include his children, Maggie Lynn Collins (Chris) of Climax and Brandi Blocker (Mel) of Dothan; his grandchildren, Madison Collins and Levi Blocker; his siblings, Cheryl Donley (Hoyt) and Joyce Heard, all of Climax and Irene Franklin of Colquitt; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; the mother of his children, Nannette Heard; and his two closest friends who were always there for him no matter what, Terry Lambert and Ronnie Kelly. Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Heard, Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Benny Franklin.
Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
