The Bainbridge Rotary Club met for their weekly meting at the Kirbo Center on Tuesday. The guest speaker for the day was Margueritte Jackson (MJ), scoutmaster of the local girl’s Scout troop, cub master of the local Cub Scout pack, and assistant scoutmaster of the local Boy’s troop.
MJ gave the club an update on the local troops over the past few years. “I had 60 Cub Scouts signed up before the hurricane, and the hurricane shut us down,” she said, “because everybody had to get their houses back in order. And then Covid hit.” Despite these stumbling blocks, MJ clarified that things were presently going well. “We are in great shape, thanks to you all, because you all sponsor the pack, the girl’s troop and the boy’s troop.”
She went on to show the Rotarians a slideshow of all the various activities the Scouts participate in, from camping, to nature clean-up, to learning many techniques and skills for wilderness preparedness, as well as flag retirement ceremonies.
Following her presentation, MJ concluded by taking questions from the audience.
