Charles Alton Harden, Sr., age 80, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 9:00 am to 9:45 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Dean officiating. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with military honors beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Brian Rogers, Kevin Rogers, Greg Richey, Tim Wilson and John LaCour serving as pallbearers. Charles was born January 8, 1943 in Miller County, Georgia the son of Charles Eager Harden and Clyde Mae Harden. Charles began working for Miller Hydro in Bainbridge, GA around 1963. He took a break to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he drove heavy trucks and was a Military Police officer. Then, he returned back to Miller Hydro where he worked for over 35 years. He was a wonderful husband and father. Charles loved fishing, camping, and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Doris Harden; children, Theresa McCarthy (Sean) of Mandeville, LA and Charles Harden, Jr. (Holly) of Crawfordville, FL; grandchildren, Kayla Noll, Ally Harden, and Lucas Harden; sisters, Eloise Gibson and Barbara Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Virginia Harden.
The Harden family has entrusted the arrangements to Ivey Funeral Home, 502 S. Scott Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.
