The Ladycats fell to Hardaway 52-23 in the Region 1-4A Championship. The result netted Bainbridge a 2-seed for the state playoffs and region runners-up title.
The Ladycats were down by 10 at halftime. They struggled in the third quarter, only scoring two points. Bainbridge head coach Danny Evans said the low-scoring third quarter made it hard for them to win the game.
“I always say we’ve got to be mentally strong,” Evans said. “We still struggle, especially in that third quarter.”
Sophomore DaNydia Campbell led the team in scoring with seven points in the loss.
The Ladycats made it to the final game after a 54-44 upset win over Westover. Bainbridge entered the region tournament as a 3-seed, and Westover was a 2-seed.
“We came ready to play,” Evans said.
The Ladycats will play Trinity Christian at home in the first round of the GHSA 4A state playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 20, or Wednesday, Feb. 21— date and time are still TBD.
