The Bainbridge Ladycats fell 64-44 to Trinity Christian in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs. The loss ends the season for Bainbridge.
The Ladycats gained a small lead in the first half, but the Lady Lions rallied to lead the Ladycats 37-26 at halftime. They increased their lead to 49-34 at the end of the third quarter and built to the final score of 64-44 in the fourth.
“We went up three or four points,” said Ladycats head coach Danny Evans. “Then we started making mental errors.”
The Ladycats entered the playoffs a 2-seed after falling to Hardaway in the Region 1-4A championship. They beat Westover in the first round of the Region Tournament to advance to the final and secure at least the second seed.
They end the season with an overall record of 9-19. The team is losing four seniors to graduation, but outside of senior guard Miyah Williams, juniors and underclassmen made up the top three players in every statistical category.
“Next year, we’re going to have a whole different look,” Evans said. “Moving forward, going into spring ball, going into summer. We’ll have a good summer camp and get back on it in the fall.”
