Dr. James Cox will be officially joining Memorial Eye Care this week. With nearly 45 years of experience in the optometry field, Dr. Cox got his start with Dr. Glenn Brown in 1979 at Bainbridge Vision. He would go on to also work at the National Vision Clinic at the Moultrie Walmart.
After the purchase of the Bainbridge practice, Cox would look into working with Memorial Eye Care, where he would be paired with an old acquaintance, Dr. Lisa Martin. Dr. Martin initially began her career in optometry by apprenticing under Dr. Cox at Bainbridge Vision.
“I had the pleasure of working with Dr.Cox when I was an apprentice at Bainbridge High School and also in private practice many years ago,” Martin said. “It comes full circle. I started with him, and we’re hoping he’ll retire with me.” While Dr. Aric Aldridge provides eye surgery for Memorial, Dr. Martin has been largely responsible for operating the clinic daily.
“I knew Lisa, Dr. Martin, needed some help,” Cox said. “I talked to her, and I said, ‘You think we might could work out something?’… So it was a mutual agreement.”
Dr. Cox is semi-retired, and will be working two-and-a-half days out of the week.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Cox has joined our team at Memorial Eye Care,” said Memorial CEO Jim Lambert. “Dr. Martin and her team do an exceptional job caring for their patients and Dr. Cox, with his knowledge and expertise, will be a tremendous asset as they continue serving our community.”
