Bearcats edge Shaw in series opener

The Bearcats beat Shaw 4-3 in the first game of a three-game region series. Bainbridge jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning and cemented the victory with a run in the fourth.
1st inning
Parker Landrum opened the scoring with a run courtesy of a Bowen Smith ground ball. Nate Cannon scored on the next at-bat after Graham Beckham hit a ground ball single. Smith capped off the scoring on the next at-bat thanks to Brooks Hines fly ball singe.
3rd inning
The Raiders responded with three runs of their own, tying the game at 3-3.
4th inning
Amarion Donaldson found home for the eventual game-winner in the fourth inning. He scored off a sacrifice fly by Drew Clayton.
The Bearcats held Shaw scoreless for the rest of the game, bringing the game to its final score of 4-3.
Hines led Bainbridge from the mound. He faced 32 batters and threw 70 strikes off 93 pitches.
Up next for the Bearcats is a doubleheader against Shaw. They face off on Friday, March 29. The first game starts at 4 p.m. with the second to follow.
