The Bearcats beat Shaw 4-1 on Senior night. Senior midfielder Brock Williams scored twice for Bainbridge, along with a goal from sophomore midfielder Angel Bonilla-Ortiz and a Raiders own-goal.
“It’s always good to get a win,” said Bearcats’ head coach Brian Hill. “Especially on senior night.”
The Bearcats have seven seniors on their squad, and Hill said they elevate the team’s ability.
“They have a lot of experience,” Hill said. “They’ve played a lot of soccer… and right now, they’re being leaders on the field and off the field as well.”
Hill said the win was another step in what it is trying to build going into playoffs.
“We’re trying to get a little bit better every week and every game,” Hill said. “We’ve kind of put the puzzle pieces together a little bit… Overall, we’re just going to continue to get better, and we seem to be doing that.”
The Bearcats look ahead to their final match of the season, a bout against rivals Cairo for the Region 1-4A Championship. Bainbridge lost 1-0 to the Syrupmakers in a meeting earlier this season, and they both have a 4-1 region record.
“It’s the last game of the regular season and it’s to win region,” Hill said. “It’s definitely a big game.”
Up next for the Bearcats is a region match against Westover. The home game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.
