With kids out of school for spring break last week, local promoter Shawn Knight put on the first Kid’s Fun Day at Helen Street Park last Friday. Music, food, bounce houses and water guns were provided for the children.
Not only did local kids and families come out for the fun, State House candidate Crosby Steen paid the event a visit. Steen is running as a Republican candidate for House District 171, against Joe Campbell, with Safer Human Medicine’s primate facility, agriculture and health care as key issues of his campaign.
In addition to bounce houses and water guns, kids also played football and basketball at the event. Knight described the event as to “give back to the community, and most of all the youth!” He hopes to make this event yearly, and has several other events planned for the coming months, starting with a car show later this month.
