The Bearcat Track and Field team is your 2023-2024 GHSA Region 1-4A Champions. The team won the title at the GHSA region track meet on Thursday, April 25. 

They, along with the Ladycat team, qualified 18 individual athletes and seven relays for the sectional meet. There, they will have the chance to punch their ticket to the state championship meet. 

“It’s a heck of a group man,” said Bearcats head coach Larry Cosby. “I didn’t expect that number, but it’s good to take them.”

The Bearcats earned their region title with a team score of 204, more than 50 points ahead of Westover in second place.

“It was total domination,” Cosby said. “The guys did a great job.”

The Ladycat team is mostly made up of underclassmen, and head coach Tandria Phillips said she was proud of how her young group handled the pressure of the region meet.

“They are a young core of athletes,” Phillips said. “It was a really good meet for them, I was proud of their focus… they were locked in and ready to compete.”

Bainbridge will compete in the sectional meet on Saturday, May 4.
