Phillips takes gold, Bainbridge track & field qualifies 12 for state championship meet

The Bainbridge track & field team qualified in nine individual events and three relays for the GHSA state championship meet, with top-8 finishes at the GHSA sectional meet over the weekend.
The Bearcats qualified in five individual events and two relays, and the Ladycats qualified in four individual events and one relay.
Keenan Phillips was the best finisher between both teams, taking first place in the long jump with a distance of 22-03.50.
Jace Weaver and Kyra Green were Bainbridge’s other medalists from the day. Weaver finished second in the 300m hurdles (39.97) and third in the 110m hurdles (39.97). Green earned bronze in the high jump with a height of 5-00.00.
Jakharia Howard finished fourth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50 seconds on the dot.
Jahlae Sapp will represent the Bearcats in long-distance events at the state meet. He finished fifth in the 3200m run (10:40.81) and sixth in the 1600m run (4:40.48).
Zamiyah Ofton finished eighth in the 800m run with a time of 2:44.88.
Ashley Mosely finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 32-10.00.
The Bearcats qualified their 4x400m and 4x100m relays. They finished fifth in the 4×400 (3:29.58) and sixth in the 4×100 (42.59). The Ladycats qualified their 4x100m relay with a time of 50.72.
