Spring Creek Charter Academy teacher Krystal Apke was one of 70 teachers who received a once-in-a-lifetime surprise last Thursday, having won a free cruise voucher via Envision Credit Union. Originally created as the Leon County Teachers Credit Union in 1954, Envision chose to celebrate its 70th birthday by giving back to 70 teachers in the area. Specifically, giving each a cruise voucher. Of those 70, five were chosen to be surprised in the classroom; Apke was one of them.
“I just am really glad I showed up to work today,” Apke laughed. “You always see those things and you’re like, ‘Surely I’m not gonna win, that’s not gonna be me,’ so I’m pretty pumped.”
In addition to a free cruise voucher for the teachers and a plus one, Envision also provided a voucher to cover the cost of port fees.
“We don’t want them to have any extra expenses, other than the merchandise and fun things they would want to buy,” said Kelli Walter, Envision Vice President of Community Development.
