The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce gathered next door to the post office on Tuesday morning to hold a ribbon-cutting for the new 24/7 YMCA facility.
Rich Gallagher, president and CEO of the Moultrie YMCA, spoke to the event attendees. “As you guys know, our YMCA, this Y, has been on a journey,” he said. “Again, Glenda and Kim, and all of our staff that have just stayed faithful to the Y… they’re the reason this Y has remained strong and is now thriving, thriving so much that we’re able to open this Y and go on offense.”
“We’ve been so blessed to be a part of this community,” Gallagher continued, stating his desire for the Bainbridge YMCA to be a “generational Y, meaning it’s gonna be here for our kids, our grandkids, our great-grandkids.”
Access to the 24/7 gym requires a membership, and is only available for those 18 years old and older. Those interested in joining can visit the main YMCA office on Shotwell Street.
Following the ribbon cutting, a raffle was held, with the grand prize being a lifetime membership, which Matt Palmer won.
