Matthew Lee Gay, age 45, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Ga. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Cadwell Chapel of Cox -Ivey Funeral Home.

Matt was loved by so many. He never met a stranger, and if you were fortunate enough to know him, you had a friend in him always. His generosity and kindness was never wasted. To know him was to know the most sincere and caring heart from which loyalty just spilled over. You would catch him out playing a few rounds on his favorite golf course with his buddies or tucked off in the corner with a small crowd reminiscing about “the good ole days” and all the memories of past times he so cherished. No matter where he was, Matt was known for his striking good looks and was always dressed to a “T”. He loved each and every one of his friends and from many different seasons of life and different backgrounds, and you just knew a fairness and balance that resided inside his laid back, humble personality. He loved his friends but there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. He made sure they all had what they needed and were cared for and knew that he would be that rock until he couldn’t anymore. His daughter, Elizabeth Grace, was the apple of his eye. He lived for the days he would spend recalling times they shared together, and prayed she would always know that his love was something that would always be with her even when he couldn’t be. He was the best brother to his sister, and he will always be her favorite memory that lives and burns brighter than any other.

Matt Gay is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Grace Gay, “Bug” to her daddy; his siblings, Erin Poppell (Jay), Shawn Dean ( Mandy), Chris Dean, Belle Bramlette (John), Kyle Odom (Katie), and Kim Gullage (Robby); Tristan Elizabeth Humphrey (Robby) and Gabrielle Alana Whiddon, his two nieces whom he adored and loved as his own. and a host of other nieces and nephews.
