Bainbridge Church hosted a special performance on Friday, July 28, a play reenacting the Biblical story of Ruth. The production was put on by the Academy of the Arts; based in South Carolina, the group previously performed at Bainbridge Church with last year’s production of Pilgrim’s Progress.
According to the Academy’s Berend Sandersfeld, an estimated 125 people showed up for the play.
“The audience was encouraged by the story and was reminded of God’s great love for them,” Sandersfeld said of the play’s reception. “Many of the audience members came up to me and mentioned how appreciative they were of the story of Ruth being acted out before their eyes, and mentioned how impactful it was for their children.”
The group had previously traveled and put on the production 18 times, and would go on to perform again in Zephryhills, Fla.
When asked if he had anything to add about the play, Sandersfeld quoted Hebrews 13:8, which says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
