Sharon Brunson, age 72, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Brunson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. George Masciarelli will officiate. Mrs. Brunson will be interred in Brinson Cemetery.
Sharon Stockton was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on September 2, 1951, to James E. Stockton and Edith Hodges Stockton. She married the love of her life, Joseph (Joey) Brunson. She and Joey shared life together for 54 years. Sharon graduated with honors from Florida State University and was an avid reader. After raising her family, she dedicated her professional life to young children and to aging seniors. She founded and directed the First United Methodist Church Preschool in Panama City, Florida. Everyone she met experienced her gentle love and generosity, and her colleagues and the children brought her much joy. After returning to Brinson, she became a member of Brinson United Methodist Church. Her family meant the world to her, and she delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. Sharon Brunson will be deeply missed by the family she loved so very much and her many friends.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Joseph (Joey) Brunson of Brinson, Georgia; her children, Sherri Hooper (Ernie) of Bonifay, Florida and Jan Brunson (Andrew Greene) of Kaneohe, Hawaii; brother, Jimmy Stockton of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Shauni Cooley (Caleb), Parker Hooper (Gianna), Mary Grace Swain (Ben), and Odin Greene; her great-grandchildren, Jude Swain, Rosemary Swain, and Jameson Hooper; and her mother-in-law, Ethelba (Pell) Brunson of Bainbridge.
