Port City Animal Hospital was bustling with visitors on Thursday morning, as members of the community and Chamber of Commerce came out to welcome the clinic’s newest vet, Dr. Charles “Bo” Bailey, son of Dr. Charles Clifford “Cliff” Bailey.
“I grew up in Bainbridge, and grew up working with my father all through high school,” Bo said. “I’ve wanted to be a vet ever since high school.” Bo began studying for his career at ABAC, before moving on to Lincoln Memorial University.
“It’s always been a dream to work with my family, and it’s finally come true. I couldn’t be happier or more excited.”
Dr. Cliff recalled how he wanted to be sure he didn’t unduly influence his son’s career path. “I’ve always been really careful to try not to guide him that way,” he said.”Even when he first got in college, he said that’s what he wanted to do, and I was like, ‘You do the work, you prove that you want to do it, and then I’ll get behind you’.”
“He’s committed to staying… eventually I’m sure I’ll probably die in the clinic, they’ll wheel me out, and he’ll have it all!” Cliff laughed.
Aside from expanding the family business, Port City is also looking to expand its offices in the near future, including the waiting room and kennels.
