Edna Eugenia Salter Brock, age 91, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Brock will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 9, at Black Jack Baptist Church, 2747 Old Whigham Road, Bainbridge, Georgia 39817. The Rev. Jimmy Adamson and Rev. Conrad Salter will officiate. Charles Brock, Jr., Kent Brock, David Brock, Chris Moore, Jeremy Scott, Alex Rhodes, and Adam Rentz will serve as pallbearers. Riggs Rentz, John Wolfe Scott, Brock Tye, and Connor Willis will serve as honorary pallbearers along with the staff and residents of Willow Ridge.

     Mrs. Brock will be interred in Roselawn Memory Gardens beside her husband, David. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, at Black Jack Baptist Church.

     Edna Eugenia Salter was born January 12, 1933 in Mitchell County, Georgia. Her parents, Paul E. Salter and Temptie Thompson Salter, have preceded her in death. She and David were married January 5, 1952. They raised 4 children and shared their lives together for 63 years, until his death in 2015. Edna began her career in 1964 at Memorial Hospital and Manor as a nurse’s aide. In 1978 she graduated with honors from Bainbridge College’s first LPN class. She continued her career and retired in 2004 with 40 years of service to OB Department of Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Brock loved to sew and go fishing with her husband. She loved to work in her flowers, even at 91 years of age. Singing in the church choir brought her much joy. Edna was a faithful member of the Black Jack Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir. She and a small group of her friends would sing at nursing and assisted living homes on Friday nights. They had such a good time and everyone loved listening. This continued for years. A strong-willed, loving, wife, mother, sister, and friends to many. Edna Brock will be deeply missed.

     Mrs. Brock is survived by her children, Charles Earnest Brock (Alice) of Bainbridge, Willard Brock (Marjorie) of Bainbridge, Earl Brock (Kim) of Whigham, Georgia, and Jane Tye (Wayne) of Chattahoochee, Florida; grandchildren, Charles Brock, Jr. (Jennifer), Amanda Rentz (Adam), Carly Brock, David Brock, Dana Rhodes (Alex), Kent Brock, Kim Moore (Chris), Elizabeth Scott (Jeremy), Lacey Tye, Nelda Strickland (Marcus), Candace Shurrum (Mark), and Leslie Tatum (Joe); 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, J. D. Salter and Joe Salter; and many nieces and nephews.

    The family offers their gratitude to Dr. Sydney Cochran, the staff of Centerwell Home Heath, Rescare, and Willow Ridge for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Edna and the family during her time of illness.

     Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her granddaughter Marla Kim Brock, daughter-in-law Cathy Harris Brock and siblings: Spencer Salter, William Salter, Mildred McNair and Nathan Salter.
