Mr. Gerald Franklin, age 72, of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away very suddenly on Monday, August 5, 2024.  A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, August 16, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.  Family and friends are invited to come and visit beginning at 6:30 pm.

Gerald was born October 30, 1951 to James and Laverne Powell Franklin.  He grew up in Eldorendo, Georgia.  Gerald was a talented musician.  He started young as the lead drummer in a band named Sugar Daddy.   The band was well received and was the opening act for some famous groups.  The group had a large following.  When not making music, Gerald worked at Ironwood as a crane operator until his retirement. Gerald had lots of friends and enjoyed spending time with them.  He especially enjoyed going to rock concerts and the more buddies that joined the trip the better.  Gerald Franklin will be missed by his family and many friends.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his son, Steve Harrison (Sandee) of Gainesville, Florida; his brother, Ronnie Franklin (Cissie); sisters, Billie June Turner and Justine Taylor of Tallahassee, Florida; aunt, Ann Goodson of Lake City, Florida, 6 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
