This past Friday, the Cougars traveled to David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore, Georgia, to face the Eagles. Despite a spirited effort from the team, the Cougars fell to the Eagles with a final score of 52-21. The Cougars were led by Seniors Dawson Worsley, Cade Wells, Preston Barnett, Owen Earnest & Jaiden Belcher.
Quarterback Owen Earnest showcased his skills with two rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown to Cade Wells. Sophomore Bryton McClure made a pivotal play with a significant run that set up the team’s first touchdown. Defensively, both Worsley and Wells contributed with interceptions and multiple quarterback sacks.
Coach McClure and his staff commented, “these boys played hard, but came up short. It wasn’t for lack of effort or intensity, but we are looking forward to this Friday’s game”.
The Cougars are set to host their first home game of the season at the GCA Athletic Complex this Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Memorial Day School. In celebration of Labor Day, players and cheerleaders are encouraging attendees to wear red, white, and blue in support of our country. Gate fees are $10 for adults, $8 for children, and free for GCA students.
