On Tuesday morning, First Port City Bank discussed their upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration with community members and downtown businesses at The American. Coffee and donuts were served as Michael Brooks, SVP & Chief Marketing Officer, announced the upcoming event in October while also explaining to store owners how to generate traffic.

On October 12, there will be a family-friendly event from 11:00 am.-10:00 pm. Live music will begin at the Willis Park Gazebo at 11:00 am., and continue at the Hook & Ladder at 3:20 pm. There will also be a petting zoo open from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There will also be a shop, dine & win giveaway for $500 from 11:00 am. -9:00 pm. The giveaway is for any customer who visits a participating restaurant in the downtown Bainbridge district.

Brook explained ways a local business can advertise to bring in customers. “Don’t just open your doors. Try to create something like little hors d’oeuvres or something for people who are shopping or browsing. If you’re trying to get rid of stock, do some deals on that day, and if you let us know of those ahead of time, we’ll be able to advertise and push that as well,” he said.

“There’s plenty of room,” he continued, “You may have your store location out, and you may have something that you’d like down where a majority crowd may be.” He also discussed businesses collaborating together to highlight each other’s goods and services.
