Addie Ray was born on January 25, 1932 in Decatur County, Georgia to Oscar Stewart and Jewel Earnest Stewart. She married her sweetheart, Clyde Chapman, at the tender age of 15 and, together they spent 51 years building a modest life raising their two children, Larry and Gail, before his passing. They enjoyed taking their children and young grandchildren to visit neighbors, spending time together talking, laughing, playing instruments and singing.

She was a member of Port City Church of God and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was the full representation of a southern lady, always ensuring her hair and clothes were in place no matter the circumstance. She was a great cook and her family’s favorites included her homemade chicken and dumplings, potato salad and chocolate meringue pies. She also enjoyed working in her flowers and yard.

She had a long and full life and was known for her endearing stubbornness. Even until several months before her passing, she continued to live in her own home with the support of family and friends. All would agree her greatest accomplishment was her children who were raised to love and serve the Lord.

Addie Ray is survived by her children: Larry Chapman (Lenorah) of Colquitt, Georgia and Gail Martin (Phillip) of Bainbridge, Georgia; her grandchildren: Corey Chapman (Robin) of Cumming, Georgia; Casey Chapman (Kellie) of Poulan, Georgia;  Amber Boehm (Joe) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Blake Martin of Bainbridge, Georgia; great-grandchildren: Coley Chapman of Belmont, California and Kell Chapman of Cumming, Georgia; Aubrey Chapman of Bainbridge, Georgia; Madison Mitchell (Buddy) of Tifton, Georgia;  J.P. Boehm and Audrey Boehm, both of Greenville, South Carolina. She is also survived by two nieces.
