Citizens opposed to the proposed Safer Human Medicine primate facility gathered at The Osceola Event Company in Donalsonville last Thursday for a town hall meeting. While there were no new major legal updates given during the meeting, a panel of several concerned citizens and those involved with the Stand Up Bainbridge citizens group, as well as Gordon Rogers of the Flint River Keepers, spoke on the various issues and topics pertaining to the facility.

One local celebrity who spoke on the panel was angler Pam Martin-Wells, who spoke on various counts of pollution and environmental mismanagement she has witnessed in her fishing career, and how they negatively impacted fishing hot spots.

Again, while there were no new legal updates on the cases surrounding the Bainbridge facility given, resident Lisa DaSilva informed those in attendance that a similar facility that was planned to be built in Brazoria County, Texas, was scrapped. The facility faced similar backlash from citizens and organizations like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
