Mr. David Taylor, Sr., age 70, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, surrounded by his family.  Services for Mr. Taylor will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.  The Rev. Richie Vaughn is officiating.  J. R. Singleton, Chase Taylor, Buddy Taylor, Holden Taylor, Jamie Taylor, Don Singleton, Steve Taylor, and Shane Taylor will serve as pallbearers.  The service will conclude at the chapel.  Mr. Taylor will be interred in Blakely Cemetery.  The family will receive friends, Sunday, October 20, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.

David Taylor, Sr. was born March 14, 1954, in Shellman, Georgia, to X. M. Taylor, Sr. and Nancy Lucille Shattles Taylor.  David worked in the grocery business all his life.  He enjoyed his job and looked forward every day to go to work at “The Pig”.  David had a great work ethic and passed that on to his children.   He followed NASCAR as long as Jimmy Johnson was driving.  David loved to fish but only for bream.  He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was an avid Georgia football fan.  Go Dawgs!

Mr. Taylor is survived by his children, David Michael Taylor of Leesburg, Georgia, David Taylor, Jr. (Amanda) of Winter Park, Florida, Brandy Prindle (Mike) of Colquitt, Georgia, and Brandon Taylor (Lisa) of Bainbridge, Georgia; siblings, Frank Taylor (Ellen) of Chipley, Florida, Chad Haley of Dothan, Alabama, Denise Hancock of Milledgeville, Georgia, and Theresa Hester of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Gage, Nick (Madelyn), J. R. (Tessa), Aiden, Chase, Brody, Braelynn, and Noah; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Eliza Mae, Leland, and one on the way, Raina; sisters-in-law, Annette Taylor and Mary Jean Taylor of Blakely, Georgia; and brother-in-law, David Chambliss of Slocomb, Alabama.   He was preceded in death by his siblings, X. M. Taylor, Jr., Alice Chambliss, Hattie Marie, Hattie, Rufus, Jack, Monroe, and Fred Taylor, Sammy Shattles, Dave Bruner, and Roy Taylor.
