Horace Wayne Alday was born March 17, 1959, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Bruce & Betty Eidson Alday. He attended Bainbridge High School and made his mark on the world with a welder. Bubba married Peggy in 1976. He was a member of New Fountainhead Church.
Bubba was a people person who never met a stranger. He made no bones about telling you exactly what he thought, especially if it involved his children, his grandchildren, or anything sports related. Bubba enjoyed fishing and playing softball. Tales from his younger days usually included details about spectacular games and the ballfield drama that ensued.
He was known for his welding skills, and many in southwest Georgia would testify, “If you can think it, Bubba can build it.” He was faithful to his church and loyal to his church family. Though he tried to be gruff, Bubba had a big heart and always wanted to help others.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 48 years, Peggy Sue Alday; his children, Rev. Wayne Alday (Amy), Danny Dewayne Alday, Bryan Alday, and Todd Rice, all of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Kaisey, Kourtney, Ivy, Caleb, Emalee Grace, Nikki, Candance, Flint, Callie, and Cameron; his great-grandchildren, Eli and Madilyn; his siblings, Brenda Hannah (John) and Bruce Alday, Jr.; and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, Bubba was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Fitzgerald, Nellie Elizabeth Hughes, & Betty Delores Alday, and his daughter-in-law, Misti Alday.
