Waymon Michael (Mike) Phillips was born March 10, 1956 in Bainbridge, Georgia to Waymon Connell Phillips and Shelby Jean Cain Phillips, who have preceded him in death. Mike grew up in Climax, Georgia, one of seven children. He graduated from Bainbridge High School. Mike was a truck driver and loved that profession. He could drive anything (semi trucks, fast cars, tractors) and could talk about any sort of vehicle. He was the master of practical jokes and loved to make people laugh. Mike never met a stranger and enjoyed being around people. He married Eva Lynn Hodge Phillips and they shared their lives for 38 years. Mike loved his family, his Corvette and Bronco but mostly, he loved the Lord. Mike was a dedicated member of Highway Free Will Baptist Church. He was continually inviting everyone he met to attend church with him and nothing made him happier than when someone came. A man of deep joy and love, Mike Phillips will be dearly missed.
Mike Phillips is survived by his beloved wife, Eva Hodge Phillips; his daughter, Melody Eakin (Scott); stepchildren, Charles Wolfe (Angie) and Derrick Wolfe (Becky); grandchildren, Katlyn Donalson, Kara Donalson, Jayce Donalson, Georgia Hermanes, Megan Griner, and Lelia Wolfe; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leatha Turner (Phil), Sandra Guerra (Israel), Terry Phillips (Suzanne) and Mark Phillips (Lora); nieces and nephews, Hannah Waldrop, Nicholas Weathersby, Jennifer Collins, Kolby Phillips, Kaleb Phillips, Torri Glisson, Anthony Glisson, Christopher Smith, Damian Whitworth, Shawn Whitworth, and Amanda Blocker; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon Connell and Shelby Jean Phillips, sister, Darlene Collins, and brother, Larry Phillips.
