BHS hosts Bearcat XC Invitational

Students from across southwest Georgia gathered at Bainbridge High School on Saturday morning for the Bearcat XC Invitational.
For the girl’s 5K run, the Bearcat’s Teagan Barefoot came in fourth with a time of 24:42.80; Emerson Huggins came in fifth at 24:55.00; Enajiya Marcus came in sixth with a time of 24:55.10; Elana Sheffield placed tenth at 25:36.80; Angalina Gomez came in twenty-third at 29:40.60; Jasmine Rentz placed twenty-fifth at 33:04.00; and Sofia Velasquez placed twenty-eighth with a time of 38.39.50.
In the women’s 2-mile run, Auri Russ came in twenty-second with a time of 18:36.60; Savannah Anderson came in twenty-eighth with a time of 20:22.90; Madison Patrick placed thirtieth at 20:31.30; Cameryn Hill came in thirty-first with a time of 20:51.70; Ayesha Sapp came in thirty-fifth at 24:11.40; and Madison Hutto placed thirty-sixth at 24:33.40.
For the boy’s 5K run, Gambler Dollar came in seventeenth at 19:51.90; Le’Tuan Howard came in eighteenth at 20:16.00; Nathan Jackson came in nineteenth at 20:26.60; Detric Burden came in twenty-fifth at 20:54.70; Mitchell Carter came in twenty-ninth at 21:39.60; Kennith Moye came in fortieth at 24:02.21; Preston Hutto came in forty-first with a time of 24:13.70; Remy Davis placed forty-fifth with a time of 24:50.80; and Camden Wilemon placed fifty-second at 31:53.80.
In the men’s 2-mile run, Joseph Farmer placed eighth with a time of 13:12.90; Hudson Wilemon came in twelfth at 14:00.10; Tyler Henslee came in thirty-first with a time of 16:19.50; and Evan Patrick placed thirty-seventh with a time of 16:41.90.
“Overall, we are glad to have hosted a great meet with some fun competition,” said coach Alison Wells. “We had some strong individual performances, and are excited to build on that for our upcoming championship races.”
Cross country sectionals will be November 2, and the state meet will be held November 9.
“We look forward to these last few weeks of tuneup training to put us in the best spot for championship season,” Wells continued. “It’s been a great season so far and the athletes have really built up some great fitness!”
