Margie Pearl Barwick was born May 25, 1934, in Climax, GA, the daughter of Mosby & Pearl Durham Barwick. She was a graduate of Climax High School, Class of 1950 and married the love of her life, B. Marvin Harrell, shortly after. Margie retired twice; she served as secretary to the President of First Port City Bank after spending years in the school system as secretary to Dr. Smallwood, Coach Lynwood Mock, and Frank Loeffler. She was a member of Sutton Chapel.
Margie was very independent and goal driven. She spent most of her senior year of high school at Warm Springs recovering from polio but returned to walk with her graduating class. She never slowed down. She had high standards at work and at home. Margie made sure the house and yard were kept perfectly with everything in its place.
She loved people and met many over the years. Margie always remembered to ask about your comings and goings and how the children were doing. Her church family held a special place in her heart; serving them and serving alongside them was a true joy. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and dominos and all the conversations that went along with that.
Survivors include her children, Byrl M. Harrell, Jr. of Bainbridge and Gail & Stacy Heard of Newton, GA; her grandchildren, Steven & Lee, Marcey & Chris, Kevin, Marlon, Lori & Frank, and Lance; her great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace, Ryder, Olivia Cole, Kenley, Sterling, Langston, Layton, Abbie, Ghanum, Aubrey, and Lylah; her sister, Carol Owens; and a large extended family. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, B. Marvin Harrell, Sr., her son, Kevin Lee Harrell, and her siblings, J.L., James, Julian, Iantha, Norma Jane, and Billie Merle.
