Frances Eloise Daniels, known affectionately as Eloise by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida. Born on January 31, 1945, in Bainbridge, Georgia, Eloise’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, and her enduring kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Eloise’s journey began as the cherished daughter of Rev. Farest Sellers and Margaret Elizabeth Dodson Sellers, both of whom predeceased her. Her childhood in Bainbridge was filled with the simple joys of Southern life and the nurturing warmth of a large close-knit family. It was at church where her father was preaching, at the tender age of 10, that Eloise met Earl Eugene Daniels, the man who would become her lifelong partner and best friend. Their love story blossomed from childhood friendship to true love, and after six months of courtship, they married when Eloise was just 15 and Earl was 17. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey of 64 years, filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Eloise’s life was one of devotion—not only to her husband but also to her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Earl Eugene Daniels; her daughter, Sharon Daniels Shepard (Hank); her son, Michael Daniels; her grandchildren, Amber Demakowski (David) and Aaron Shepard (Josey); and her three great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Abigail, and Eva. She also leaves behind her brother, Kenneth “Buddy” Sellers (Theresa); her nephews, Quinn Hancock, Kevin Sellers (Christy), Steve Sellers (Priscilla); and her beloved sister-in-law, Ellie Jean Davis. Each family member was a precious thread in the beautiful tapestry of her life.
Eloise’s role as a homemaker was a source of great pride and joy. She had a special gift for creating a warm and welcoming home where all felt loved and cared for. Eloise was one of the most generous women, known and admired for the sacrifices she made for her loving family. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family as she cherished her time babysitting, offering not just her time but her heart to the children she watched over.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A devout Christian, Eloise was a dedicated member of Highway Freewill Baptist Church, where she was involved in numerous church activities and was also the longest active member of the church. Her love for singing hymns and playing the piano brought great joy to the congregation and provided a source of comfort and inspiration to many.
Eloise’s interests reflected her loving and gentle nature. She found pleasure in simple pastimes like doing word search puzzles and was known for her love of shopping—a hobby that was as much about the joy of finding treasures as it was about the delight of being in the company of family and friends. Her home was often the heart of family gatherings, where her presence was a warm embrace to all who entered.
Those who knew Eloise will remember her as a faith-filled, loving, and generous soul. Her life was a living example of kindness and compassion, and her legacy is one of unwavering love and selfless devotion. Eloise’s memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
As we bid farewell to Eloise, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on this world. Her spirit, characterized by grace and benevolence, will continue to guide and inspire us. Eloise’s journey on earth may have come to a close, but her story—etched in the memories of her loved ones—will continue to be told with affection and admiration for generations to come.
She spent her final days enveloped in the tenderness of the staff at the Big Bend Hospice, located within the Florida Commerce Center for Compassionate Care at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Their devotion and sincere attention to Eloise and her family will always be cherished and remembered with sincere gratitude.
