Tuesday morning, the Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Casa Bella- Luka Boutique at 125 Calhoun Street Unit 2.
Casa Bella-Luka Boutique is a formal gown and dress shop that has been open since last summer. The boutique is perfect for pageants, homecoming, prom, and many more special occasions. Some customers even came to the boutique to shop for gowns for Memorial Hospital’s Gala Foundation earlier this month.
Karen Tobin, Chamber President, stated the arrival of the boutique is a great addition to the downtown community. “We have lots of representation from the board members from chamber members and as well as ambassadors, and so if we can ever assist with the success of your business, that’s what we’re here for so we are glad to have you as part of the membership and downtown community.”
Misty Floyd-Beck, the owner of the boutique, stated that she opened a store in Bainbridge “to bring opportunity to the young people, but this is just a start.”
She elaborated, “So, we’re getting ready to bring back something old from Bainbridge but make it something new called the Fashion Board. It’s going to give our young people the opportunity to model for the downtown boutiques and to have mentorships with people in the fashion industry because we don’t have anything like that here.”
She continued, “I’ve even made connections with Victoria Henley who was on America’s Next Top Model and others who will do classes with them. So, I figured that this would just be the start, and I’m also working on bringing the holistic spa here.”
The name Casa Bella-Luka is unique and eccentric, meaning “House of Beautiful Life”. Floyd-Beck stated the name Bella comes from her daughter and Luka comes from her son. The boutique’s name ties into culture and pulls together languages in Spanish, Italian and French. Floyd-Beck is excited for the chance to show Bainbridge that there is more in store in regards to style, elegance, and fashion.
