Tommy J. Rentz, 82, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Humphries officiating. Interment will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tommy Jerome Rentz was born September 3, 1942, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of E.O. & Annie Lee Earnest Rentz. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1961, where he was a sprinter for the track team. After high school, Tommy worked as an electrician at Ward Electric, retiring after 30+ years.
Anyone who knew Tommy realized there was always a side gig. He owned Rentz Landscaping and had a game bird farm. Tommy served a number of years as a scout leader for Boy Scout Troop 508. He volunteered and became “in-house” security for the Bainbridge High School Band. Most notably, Tommy served his community as a volunteer for over 50 years with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office including many hours with the rescue unit and working security at community events.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Wylie (Russ) of Wesley Chapel, FL; his grandchildren, Summer & River; his sisters, Sandra Wilkinson (Haisten) of Bainbridge and Gloria Trammell of Albany; his cousin, who was like a brother, Ernie Ward (Debbie) of Johns Creek, GA; and his nieces & nephews, Teri & Greg Perry, Brett & Jennifer Wilkinson, Michael & Michelle Trammell, and Jena & Charlie Shell. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.
