Barbara Nell Ross was born January 11, 1938, in Donalsonville, GA, the daughter of Alto & Audrey Roberts Ross. She was a graduate of Seminole County High School. In 1955, Barbara married Billy Charles Parker, and they made their home in southwest Georgia. She worked in banking & finance at CIT and First State Bank, then transitioned to insurance clerk at West Georgia Medical Center and later at Memorial Hospital. Barbara was a member of Delwood Baptist Church.

With a determined spirit, Barbara drove a hard bargain and kept order. She made no bones about finding idle hands a project, and no family member was immune. Nanny loved her grandchildren and made every effort for this world to be all it could be for them.

She was no stranger to the kitchen with the list of favorites including southern dishes such as pork chops, dressing, salmon patties, and peach ice cream. Traveling opened the door to new adventures that no one believed topped being married to Billy Charles. And of course, no day went by without a phone call (or seven) to Jana for the recap.

Survivors include her children, Jana & Tim Stewart, Jay & Melissa Parker, and Denise Parker; her grandchildren, Brittany & Isaiah, Ross & Morgan, Heath & Whitley, Chase, and Brannon; her great-grandchildren, Finn, Camden, and C.J.; and her special sister-in-law, Cherry Stewart. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Billy Charles Parker; her son, Jeff Parker; her grandchildren, Brandon & Allison; and her sister, Gloria Henley.
