Larry Joe Posey, Jr. was born May 16, 1968, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Larry Sr. & Sara Hutto Posey. He was a graduate of Whigham High School, Class of 1986, and earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Bainbridge College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting & management from Florida State University. Joey was a partner in Posey Construction Inc. and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Joey was the laid back, never-in-a-hurry, easy to please guy. Coffee (which he might slurp), the news, and Florida State football topped his list of things that set him in motion. He had a great sense of humor and was known to send funny memes to friends & family. Joey’s sweet tooth influenced his pantry which was always stocked with salt water taffy, honey buns, cookies, cakes, and, of course, enough coffee to wash it down.

Family was the cornerstone for Joey. He worked with family and enjoyed time off with family hunting and traveling to the beach or the mountains. Simple things made him happy, like dining at the Huddle House with Laura every weekend she was home. Joey loved listening to “real” country music and growing ferns. His favorite cartoon character was Snoopy; he identified with Snoopy’s loyalty to friends & family and his never-ending pursuit to include a little laughter in everyday activities.

Survivors include his daughter, Laura “Pumpkin” Posey of Valdosta, GA; his parents, Larry & Sara Posey; his siblings, Tracy & Becky Posey and Ashley & Tanya Posey; and his nieces & nephew, Ansley & Justin, Emilia, and Alyssa.
