Bearcats fall to Colquitt Packers in second half, 68-53

The Bearcats followed the Lady Cats last Tuesday with a strong first-half performance against the undefeated Colquitt County Packers (7-0). After the first quarter, they led 14-12 and held their most significant lead in the second quarter, 26-19, which forced a Colquitt County timeout.
At halftime, Bainbridge trailed by just one, 30- 29. Colquitt Co. would separate themselves, outscoring the Bearcats 38-24 in the second half and winning 68-53.
The Bearcats (3-5, 0-0) were led by sophomore No. 23 Keion White, who put together a 20-point showing. No. 21 Tyrese Jones had 13 points using the mid-range and attacking his defender off the bounce, and No. 22 Xavien Thome finished with 11 points and a thunderous two-hand slam.
The Bearcats lost to the Thomasville Bulldogs 61-45 in the primetime Friday night slot.
The Bearcats were led in scoring by No. 23 White, who had 11, and sophomore No. 24 Ja’Veen Breedlove, who had 10. Senior guard No. 3 Stacey Glenn poured in nine, and junior guard No. 21 Jones scored six points.
Bainbridge was competitive in the first half. After the first quarter, it was tied at nine with Thomasville and trailed by just three at the break (21-18).
Again, the woes of the third quarter continued to show being outscored 27-13 by the Bulldogs.
The Bearcats aim to address their third-quarter challenges during the Miller County Holiday Tournament, which will take place from Friday, Dec. 27, to Dec. 28. The boys will play Sherwood Christian at home on December 27 at 3:30 p.m.
