Saturday morning, Tammy Nunamaker, owner of Goodfinds4U Thrifty Boutique at 101 W. Water Street Unit A, held a grand opening.
Nunamaker, a new resident from Greensboro, Florida, is making a name for herself. This is her first time owning a store, and she’s already seeing profits. With her boutique, she’s bringing a new level of faux-bougie to the town.
Goodfinds4U Thrifty Boutique, which opened on December 14th, offers women’s clothing, shoes, and knick-knacks, featuring new or “gently used” products. Nunamaker is mindful of everyone’s budget. She stated, “I opened the store because all the stores around here are costly, and I wanted something for everybody to shop at. There’s a fair price for everyone.” Nunamaker has been middle class her entire life, and it’s always been her dream to open a store with “cheap, cheap prices.”
However, Nunamaker faced challenges as the price to rent space was expensive, making it impossible to sustain the business by selling “$2 or $3 per item.” Thus, she decided to name the business Thrifty Boutique. “I wanted something nice enough, like a boutique, but cheap, like a thrifty one,” she stated. “You can find stuff here for $1 to $20 or maybe $30. I try not to price anything over $30. People from low, middle, and high classes can shop here.”
Nunamaker’s long-term goal is to make enough money to buy a house for her disabled mother. “She’s on oxygen 24/7, and I just can’t do anything because I’m living from paycheck to paycheck. So, I do work cleaning houses, and I run this business. I also sell on eBay. Combining all these together, maybe I can make some money for my mama and buy her a small house,” she explained.
Besides being budget-friendly, Nunamaker chose Bainbridge because of the town’s rising attraction. She stated, “I came to Bainbridge because Downtown Bainbridge is rising, and it’s beautiful out here; I looked at the square and said, ‘This is so pretty.’ So, it was the perfect spot to start.”
For her Grand Opening, Nunamaker offered food and drinks to customers and provided five goodie bags valued at $100 for the first five people in line. She also gave a 10% discount for purchases of $25 or more spent in the store.
