Last Monday, Decatur County Schools congratulated teachers who achieved 90% or higher growth on the English Language Art section of the mid-year iReady assessment.
The iReady Diagnostic is an online assessment tool that evaluates students’ proficiency in reading. It adapts to each student’s response level by tailoring questions to help identify strengths and areas of improvement. The diagnostic also provides teachers with an image of student performance based on their grade level and national norms, which enables them to customize instruction and support individual learning needs. In Decatur County, students take the assessment three times a year to monitor progress in grades K-5.
The Typical Growth from August to May is 100%. So, DCBOE informed teachers that they want to see 50% of typical growth from August to December. Many teachers had the 50% mark, but the English Language section exceeded the 50% mark to 90%.
DCBOE recognized the following teachers for their performance: Keyla Alvarez, Jodie Benton, Melissa Benton, Mistee Dean, Sarah Dollar, Kerri Gardner, Shanna Kennedy, Tia Lewis, Jordan McLaughlin, Georgette McNelson, Christy Ward, Samantha White, and Beth Whittaker.
Dairy Queen also awarded the teachers a gift certificate for their hard work. These fantastic educators and supportive businesses are helping the Decatur County Schools and students prosper.
