Lady Cougars defeat Highland Christian 60-26 after region loss to Westwood.

The Grace Christian Lady Cougars have been battling in region and were able to put together a dominant victory this past Friday against Highland Christian 60-26 after losing 26-20 to Westwood last Tuesday. 

In the Westwood matchup, the Lady Cougars were led by No. 33 Chloe Brogdon who finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. No, 11 Reagon Delaney showcased her defensive awareness with seven steals in the low-scoring contest. 

Brogdon would record a triple-double with a monstrous 25-point, 11-rebound, and 10-assist performance shooting 48 percent from the field in the victory against Highland Christian.

No. 2 Lanie Gay was the second-leading scorer of the night with 14 points finishing with three rebounds and two steals. 

GCA bounced by well for a back-to-back after losing a non-region matchup against Georgia Christian that got out of hand in the second half 50-28. Brogdon would lead the Lady Cougars with 11 points and Kate Poitevint had a stellar all-around performance with six points, six rebounds, and eight steals. 

Every Lady Cougar scored against Highland Christian. No. 10 Sara Kate Crews tallied five points on the evening, securing five rebounds. No. 4 and No. 5 Ava Martin and Poitevint both scored fourth points, with the latter hauling in 14 rebounds, nine of which were offensive boards. No. 13 Anna Claire Moore had a stellar defensive performance grabbing nine rebounds and three steals. 

The Lady Cougars sit in fourth place (1-3) in GIAA A Region 3 play and 1.5 games behind Westwood for third place. GCA’s Senior Night game against Southwest Georgia Academy on Tuesday was canceled due to inclement weather in the area and moved to Monday, January 27. The Lady Cougars game traveling to Fullington Academy, which sits atop Region 3  undefeated (4-0) this Friday in a regular season rematch from earlier this month, is rescheduled for Thursday, February 6, at 5 p.m.
