Monika Stefanie Janus was born May 9, 1962, in Aschaffenburg, Germany the daughter of Josef & Maria Aulbach Janus. She graduated high school in Germany and pursued licensure in cosmetology. Monika made people feel and look beautiful in every place she lived and worked. In 1991, she married Roan McCollough. A few years ago, they decided to make the move from Virginia to Lake Seminole. Monika was a member of First Baptist Church in Donalsonville.

Even though there were no mountains, “Sportsman’s Paradise” was the perfect fit for Monika. She enjoyed everything about nature, especially bird watching in the mornings. Walking the dogs gave her the opportunity to revel in the majesty of creation in the quietness of the outdoors.

Nifty around the kitchen, Monika was known to cook most anything. Baking was her least favorite because of the mess. She shared her gift of hospitality, ensuring everyone was well-fed and well-loved. Your favorites always seemed to grace her table…along with everyone else’s favorites.

A kind-hearted, thoughtful person with a dash of goofy made Monika a friend for life.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Roan McCollough; her children, Steven Josef Carver (Patricia), Gina Carver (Shawn Stuermer), and Rachel McCollough; and her grandchild, Aidan Carver. Monika was preceded in death by her parents.
